Step 5: Get Your Hosting AccountI'm sure you'll agree with me that the domain registration porocess is not complicated at all! Getting your hosting account up and running is a bit more involved. There are many hosting providers to choose from, but I prefer Hostgator. They provide an excellent service and their customer support is simply out of this world! I personally host all my sites (at the time of writing this = 27 !). 27 is not that many. I know of people with over 100 and even 200 websites! The most sites I owned at one stage was 52!. Hostgator will give you two dns server addresses. You must add these addresses in your Godaddy domain registrar control panel. It will take 2 days at most for the dns servers worldwide to propoagte the info and to update each other with your new domain name. Don't worry about having two days of doing nothing! There's plenty things to do in these 2 days! You will be creating content for your website. When the DNS server propogation process has completed and you create your hosting account, you will be ready to upload your content webpages to your site, where-after you will do your system testing and then start with your marketing process! All of that will be revealed in the next few lessons! Tasks for Lesson 2: Register your domain name with Hostgator PS: I have started my online business with free hosting, but I have switched to HostGator for all my sites. Free hosting are not worth it. There is alway a catch! Most of them add advertising banners on your html pages and you will loose visitors and it looks very unprofessional as these ads most of the time does not blend in with the rest of your site. Start properly and get yourself paid hosting from Hostgator.
